Whether you are an experienced angler or simply fancy trying something new, Aimargues offers excellent opportunities to enjoy a morning or afternoon fishing.
Just 5 minutes from the house, La Ginouze is a beautiful lake created from a former quarry. Surrounded by nature and wonderfully calm, it is a popular spot for local fishermen. A permit is required to fish here, but in return you will find waters well stocked with trout, carp and a variety of other species, making it ideal for both beginners and more experienced anglers.
Also only 5 minutes away, the river Le Vidourle as it passes through the nearby village of Marsillargues offers a very different fishing experience. No permit is required here, and there are a number of excellent places to cast a line, whether from beside the weir in the village or further upstream along the peaceful riverbank. It is a lovely place to spend a few hours, with the gentle sound of the water and the chance to watch the local wildlife around you.
There are few better ways to embrace the slower pace of life in the Camargue than by sitting beside the water and enjoying an afternoon fishing.
✦ Top tip: If you would like to simply “have a go”, the local supermarket Super U sells basic fishing rods, tackle and bait. For less than €20, you can easily pick up everything you need for a relaxed afternoon by the water.
